The Coed y Mwstwr Hotel Experience: Enchanting Piano Music for Your Wedding Day

July saw Hannah’s first visit to Coed y Mwstwr Hotel in Bridgend, South Wales. A charming Victorian mansion, it boasts views across the Vale of Glamorgan and beyond to the north Devon Coast. Its decor combines the modern with the traditional, and there are beautiful spaces for both indoor winter weddings and outdoor spaces for sunny summer ceremonies.

The Folly at Coed y Mwstwr Hotel

Kirsty and Mark chose to have their wedding ceremony in The Folly, which is a glass pergola located in the secret garden of Coed y Mwstwr Hotel. It has full glass sliding doors and a retractable roof and although the weather was a little too unpredictable to retract the roof, the ceremony still had the feeling of being outdoors. The perfect answer to the changeable Welsh weather! The Folly was beautifully styled by Pink Peony Weddings and Events, and decorated with gorgeous florals by Jenna at Bloom Street Florals.

The couple booked our Gold package for piano music during their wedding ceremony and drinks reception, as well as upgrading to our Grand Piano for maximum elegance and sophistication. The Grand Piano looked beautiful set up in The Folly, where there was easy access to power. The wonderfully kind staff at Coed y Mwstwr Hotel were on hand to help Hannah unload the piano, and made sure she was well looked after.

Ceremony Music at Coed y Mwstwr Hotel

All the ceremony music was chosen by the couple, with Kirsty and her bridesmaids walking down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D. Following a touching ceremony, the couple signed the register to Come Away with Me by Norah Jones, What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and Carol King’s You’ve Got A Friend. Then, accompanied by their guests rousing cheers they walked out as husband and wife to Waiting For A Star to Fall by Boy Meets Girl.

It was a beautiful ceremony, and Hannah was particularly touched by the brooch that Kirsty wore on her bridal gown. It belonged to her grandmother, and although her grandparents were unable to travel to be at the ceremony, they were on screen the whole time with a front and center view of the happy couple.

The Drinks Reception at Coed y Mwstwr Hotel

Following the ceremony, the rain held off and guests were able to mill around outside in the grounds of Coed y Mwstwr Hotel, enjoying their drinks and some outdoor games. As the sides of the Folly were open, Hannah was able to continue playing from her position in the Folly, providing a seamless transition from the ceremony to the drinks reception. There was a mix of music, from modern hits to classic tunes, along with a request for the theme tune of Jurassic Park from one of the youngest guests!

It was a gorgeous wedding, and a real privilege for us to provide piano music for Kirsty and Mark. Hannah is looking forward to returning to Coed y Mwstwr Hotel in December, this time for a winter wedding with a Christmas vibe!
