The Kimpton Fitzroy in London is the epitome of an elegant city wedding venue. With its timeless charm, grand architecture, and luxurious interiors, it offers the perfect backdrop for a stylish and unforgettable celebration. This stunning space is not just a venue; it’s an experience—one that I had the pleasure of being part of when I performed for both the ceremony and drinks reception at this beautiful wedding.
An Elegant Ceremony in the Ballroom
The ceremony took place in the breathtaking Ballroom, a grand space filled with timeless beauty. Styled by the incredibly talented Emma Soulsby Florist, the room was adorned with exquisite floral arrangements that brought romance and sophistication to every corner.
One of the most unique elements of this ceremony was the seating arrangement. About halfway back, there was a purposeful gap in the seating, aligning perfectly with the large bay window. In this space, I set up our grand piano, creating a stunning visual focal point alongside the aisle. Directly opposite, across the aisle, stood the violinist—a musician I had sourced and arranged for the couple. Facing each other across the aisle, our setup made the music feel like an integral part of the ceremony styling rather than an afterthought. View a video of the ceremony styling here.
This thoughtful layout not only added to the aesthetics but also ensured the music was front and center, enhancing the atmosphere with every note played.
The day itself was flawlessly coordinated by Claire from Weddings with Elizabeth Taylor, whose calm approach and attention to detail ensured everything ran seamlessly. Claire was an absolute joy to work with, and her warm, professional presence helped make the day feel relaxed and stress-free for everyone involved.
Unforgettable Ceremony Music at a Kimpton Fitzroy Wedding
As guests were welcomed into the ceremony room, I played a selection of Disney and romantic songs chosen by the couple. The opening piece, Tale as Old as Time from Beauty and the Beast, set the tone beautifully as guests stepped into the ceremony space for the first time. It created a magical, almost cinematic moment that felt truly special.
For her bridal entrance, the bride chose You Are The Reason by Calum Scott. Performed as a duet with the violinist, the song created an emotional atmosphere. Ahead of the day, we provided the couple with a recording of the arrangement, allowing the bridal party to rehearse their timing. Each member of the bridal party knew exactly when to walk, creating a seamless and perfectly choreographed entrance.
During the signing of the register, I performed two beautiful piano pieces by Yiruma—River Flows in You and It’s Your Day. These calming, emotive melodies filled the space while the couple signed their marriage documents and enjoyed a quiet moment together.
For the ceremony exit, the couple selected an upbeat violin and piano arrangement of A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay. The celebratory vibe was amplified by cheering guests and the burst of confetti cannons at the end of the aisle. The combination of music, applause, and a flurry of white confetti created an electric moment that felt straight out of a movie.
A Stylish Drinks Reception in Palm Court
After the ceremony, the grand piano was carefully moved to the floral centerpiece for a few stunning photos with the couple. We then relocated to the Palm Court Winter Garden for the drinks reception. With its glass ceiling, lush greenery, and sophisticated vibe, Palm Court felt like an oasis in the heart of the city.
Throughout the drinks reception, I played a mix of music—everything from romantic ballads to lighthearted classics—to ensure there was something for every guest to enjoy. The music floated effortlessly through the space, complementing the relaxed and joyful atmosphere.
A Seamless Experience at Your Kimpton Fitzroy Wedding
As the guests moved through to the wedding breakfast, I carefully packed away the piano and equipment. The Kimpton Fitzroy team were incredibly helpful, assisting with loading and logistics—a true team effort, especially when navigating central London traffic and tight unloading spaces!
