Our Pianists

laura

Laura graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama with a 2:1 BMus (Hons) Degree in solo piano performance in 2007.

Studying with highly acclaimed pianists including Richard McMahon, Michael Young, Mei Yi Foo, Katya Lebedeva, Bernard Roberts, Philip Martin, and Vanessa Latarche, Laura excelled as a soloist, competing in Concerto Trials Semi Finals and being awarded special recognition in the prestigious Beethoven Prize.

Laura remains passionate about solo piano repertoire. She is in steady demand for performances at weddings and other private functions, and is excited to have been invited to take part in Masterclasses and recital opportunities by Musical Odyssey’s Artistic Director, Yekaterina Lebedeva.

The power of music to connect and in particular to support and evoke emotions has always underpinned Laura’s passion for music performance.

It is also what lead Laura into Music Therapy practice.

With considerable experience as a Music Therapist in learning disabilities and autism services, Laura is currently part of a Music Therapy in Schools project with Cardiff County and Vale of Glamorgan Music Services, helping to support primary and secondary pupils post-Covid 19 pandemic.

She is enjoying building on the new connections she has already forged and once again combining solo, accompaniment and therapy work.

When something slightly funny is said during the service that makes the bride and groom relax. You see their smiles widen and their shoulders drop as they remember why they are there and the nerves disappear.
