The first wedding of the year is always a little bit special – it lights the fire of anticipation for what the year will hold. It’s especially exciting when I get to visit a new wedding venue in a beautiful location! My first 2023 wedding was at Hyde House, a Victorian house and barn located in Stow On The Wold, in the heart of the Cotswolds.
I was booked to play for the wedding ceremony and drinks reception at Hyde House. The bride and groom had also upgraded their package to include our mini grand piano shell which looked so elegant set up in the barn for the wedding ceremony.
The Wedding Ceremony Music
After playing background music as the wedding guests took their seats (piano music by Ludovico Einaudi always works well pre-ceremony!), I played Glasgow Love Theme from Love Actually for the bridal entrance. Then during the signing of the schedule the guests were entertained with ‘Always Remember Us This Way’ (Lady Gaga – click here to listen) and ‘All I Ask of You’ (Phantom of the Opera). At the end of the wedding ceremony the couple walked out as Mr and Mrs to Shania Twain’s ‘From This Moment’.
The Drinks Reception
The drinks location was taking place at the other end of the venue, in an entrance hall that looked out onto the beautiful grounds behind Hyde House, Stow on the Wold. With the assistance of two of the groomsmen, we picked up the piano shell and carried it across the grounds so that I could entertain guests whilst photographs were being taken. The sun shone and despite it being mid-February, there was a sense of spring in the air!
It was a wonderful wedding to begin the year. I loved experiencing Hyde House, Stow on the Wold for the first time – the perfect Cotswolds wedding venue! If you want to find out more about having a pianist at your wedding, visit our weddings page here to find out more.
