A Margam Park Orangery Wedding

The Orangery at Margam Park in Port Talbot, South Wales, is a favourite amongst all our pianists. Not least because they have a beautiful grand piano and the acoustic in The Orangery is made for live piano music! So it was with a spring in my step that I headed to Margam Park Orangery Wedding at the end of February to play for the wedding ceremony and drinks reception of Leanne and Nick.

A Margam Park Orangery Wedding Ceremony

As guests arrived at The Orangery, I entertained them with a selection of piano music, including I Giorni by Ludovico Einaudi and River Flows in You by Yiruma. These are some of my favourite pieces of music to include for the guest arrival, as it gives a timeless, elegant feel and provides a calming atmosphere to soothe those pre-ceremony jitters!

The Orangery boasts a long aisle for the bridal party, making it the perfect opportunity to create a memorable ceremony entrance. Leanne chose Only You by Yazoo as this song can be repeated without it feeling overdone, making it easy to time the music to perfectly fit the length of the ceremony entrance. It was a beautiful start to the ceremony, and one that I know Leanne and Nick will remember for a lifetime.

During the signing of the schedule the couple chose Dreams by The Cranberries, along with What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. These two pieces of music filled the length of the signing, along with time for some photographs, before it was time for the couple to leave the ceremony as husband and wife. They walked out to Hold My Hand by Jess Glynne, an upbeat song that gave an uplifting, celebratory feel to their exit as their guests clapped and cheered.

The Drinks Reception Welcome

Following the end of the ceremony, the guests lined up outside in the beautiful winter sunshine, ready for the couple’s confetti walk. As the guests made their way back into The Orangery for the drinks reception, Leanne and Nick had asked if I would welcome them with Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast. This was the perfect way to set the stage for a vibrant drinks reception, where I played a whole range of music from Disney songs, to current hits and crooner classics.

It was a beautiful day and I felt so privileged to be part of Leanne and Nick’s special day, infusing it with personalised musical touches.
